Staircase with LED light under each tread

Chandeliers, pendants and LED lighting in Evergreen.

Lighting for foothills homes, from a chandelier two stories up to LED light under every stair tread.

Lighting is the work people notice. Total Electric hangs chandeliers in two-story great rooms, sets pendants over islands and dining tables, cuts in recessed lights, and runs LED tape under stair treads, toe kicks, cabinets and shelves.

Heavy fixtures, tall ceilings

A fixture over 50 pounds needs a box listed for that weight, or its own support, before it goes up. In a two-story room the crew brings scaffolding so the fixture can be hung level and wired without a ladder balanced on the stairs. One customer's chandelier went into an 18-foot ceiling.

LED tape and drivers

Strip lighting runs on low voltage, so every run needs a driver (a power supply) sized for its length. The drivers get mounted where they can be reached later, and dimmers are matched to the drivers so the light dims smoothly instead of flickering.

Outdoor, landscape and holiday lighting

Landscape lighting and Christmas light installation are on the list too, wired to outdoor-rated circuits and timers so the lights come on without anyone walking out in the snow.

How a lighting job runs.

Four steps, from the first walk-through to the last dimmer check.

  1. 01

    Walk the room

Where the fixture hangs, where the switches go, and whether it should dim.

  2. 02

    Support and box

Weight-rated box or blocking for heavy fixtures; scaffold for tall ceilings.

  3. 03

    Wire and drivers

Circuits, switching and LED drivers placed where they can be serviced.

  4. 04

    Hang, aim, test

Fixture hung level, dimming checked from every switch, mess cleaned up.

Questions about this job.

Straight answers to what people ask most. Anything else, call (303) 670-6561.

01

Can you hang a chandelier in a two-story ceiling?

Yes. Tall ceilings get scaffolding, and heavy fixtures get a box or support rated for the weight. A recent one went into an 18-foot ceiling.

02

Can you add LED lighting under stairs or cabinets?

Yes. LED tape under stair treads, along shelves and under cabinets is a regular job. Each run gets a driver sized to it and a dimmer that matches.

03

Do you install landscape and Christmas lights?

Yes. Both are on the service list, on outdoor-rated circuits with timers.

04

Can you replace old fluorescent or halogen fixtures with LED?

Yes. LED retrofits are part of both the home and commercial work.
